Jeff Tavares, pastor
Jeff became the Pastor at New Beginning Nazarene Church in February 2024. He has a passion for connecting with people, listening to their stories, and helping them see how God is working in and through them for His purposes. Jeff comes to the pastoral ministry after a long career as a project manager and systems engineer. Prior to that, Jeff served eleven years as a Marine Officer. He holds a B.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.S. degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, and recently completed a graduate diploma in Christian Ministry from Trinity Anglican Seminary. He and Karen, both lifelong Nazarenes, were married in 1987. They have two married children Tyler (Emily) and Alexandra (John), and six grandchildren. Jeff enjoys history, football, and noodling around on his guitars.

lexa herbert, Children’s and Youth Director
Pastor Lexa leads our Children's Ministry team of teachers, volunteers, and helpers. An Illinois native, Lexa is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. After moving to Maryland with her husband, Lexa began to pursue her call to ministry to children. She enjoys Pepsi, reading, and spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their three daughters.

Don seyler, PASTOR OF VISITATION AND CARE
Pastor Don leads various areas of New Beginning that involve connecting and caring for individuals in the congregation. Previous to entering ministry, Don served in the United States Air Force and various other government positions. Don enjoys hobby trains, working with his hands, and spending time with his wife, Sue, and their four adult children.

LIZ WRIGHT, Pastor OF DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES
Liz helps to lead New Beginning into the important pursuit of growing into Christ-likeness. She oversees our discipleship ministries and Community Groups. Liz served in the United States Navy and is well-respected for the analytical work she has done for multiple businesses over her career. In her free time, Liz enjoys learning about her ancestry and spending time with her husband, Dave, and three children.
